About us
Athera develops diagnostics and drug candidates for risk assessment, prevention and treatment of inflammatory mediated cardiovascular diseases. Brief facts about the company follow below:
• Based on findings of the critical role of anti-phospholipid antibodies (aPL) and natural antibodies in the process of atherosclerosis and development of cardiovascular events.
• Founded in 2002, to exploit innovations made by Professor Johan Frostegård and Professor Ulf de Faire at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm Sweden.
• Develops a portfolio of diagnostic products, therapeutic targets and product candidates.
• A team of twenty professionals with experience in Diagnostic Test Development, Pharma R&D, Business Development and Finance.
• Privately held with Karolinska Development as lead investor. Other investors are the Baltic Sea Foundation, private investors and the Swedish government agencies ALMI and Nutek.
• Located at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm Sweden, with a diagnostic development facility in Uppsala, Sweden.
